I dare you to give this problem a shot! Figure it out and you’ll get best answer!?

You have ten rolls of coins containing 100 coins in each. The coins in each roll weigh 1 gram, except for one of the rolls has coins that weigh .9 grams each. The coins look and feel exactly identical. You have a scale and are allowed to make only ONE measurement/reading. The question is, how do you know which roll contains the .9 gram coins?

*You can unwrap the rolls of coins.

Put all the coins on at once and take the bags off one by one? Or does that break one of the rules?

Also, theoretically

.9 x 100 = 90.0 grams

1 x 100 = 100 grams

So simply by lifting each bag by hand you would notice a 10 gram difference.

take 1 coin from 1st roll

2 coins from the 2nd roll

3 coins from the 3rd roll…………..

……..10 coins from the 4th roll

there will be 55 and weigh them together.

let us take for eg that the .9 coins are in the 4th roll.if we weigh the 55 coins the total weight would be-

1 x 1=1

2 x 1=2

3 x 1=3

4 x .9=3.6

5 x 1=5

6 x 1=6

7 x 1=7

8 x 1=8

9 x 1=9

10 x 1=10

total ans is 54.6.sub tract that from 55 the ans is .4 hence the .9g coins are in the 4th roll.

the tens place decide the roll

each coin weighs .01 so in one of the roles there would only be 90 coins so simply u would seperate each of the 10 rolls and count out to see which one has 90 coins and then just to make sure u put that roll on the scale and i should be equal to .9

Take one coin from one roll, two from the next, three from the next, and so on, to ten coins from the tenth roll. Weigh all the removed coins together. This will be 55 coins. However many tenths of a gram that weight is short of 55g, that is the number of coins taken from the roll of 0.9g coins, thus identifying the roll of 0.9g coins!

By their sound! The 1 gram coins will make a heavier sound than the .9 gram coins…. I hope it’s right lol. It’s the only thing i could think of.

you count the coins or the things whatever they are and you can weigh one that has the least amount of coins to see how much it is! if it is .9 grams you set and eady to go! I hope i am right!

can you put all the rolls onto the scale at once, and take one of at a time? and see which one reduces the weight by 90g? you are not putting more rolls on, so maybe it doesn’t count as taking extra measurements. (gotta love a tryer ;))
