How come after surgeons after washing their hands, hold them up in the air?

Wouldnt it just attract MORE germs?

sounds crazy, but actually it is so the germs on the upper arms have less of a chance to get to the hands by gravity. i remember learning about that in biology class.

What you seem to be forgetting is, an operating theatre is a sterile environment, or should be.

So, where are all these dreadful germs going to come from.

They are just letting them air dry and being careful so not to touch anything that will attract unwanted germs. =D

No, they hold them up so the water from the border of the UNWASHED portion of the arms won’t run down to the hands. They dry them on sterile towels before putting on gloves.

it keeps them from touching other things, even the outside of the gloves. that is why the nurse puts them on for them.
