Just out of curiosity, why can’t you do centers? Obviously, to do guided reading groups you need time when the rest of the class is occupied, and centers seem to be the best way to do this. And the centers don’t all have to be reading related. You could make some of your centers relate to what you are doing in whatever subject comes next, or even pull other subject areas into your guided reading groups. For example, you could have a science center, or have your students read non-fiction science or social studies books in their guided reading groups. If you integrate the subjects, you’ll find that you have more time and the students’ learning becomes more meaningful.

My school pays for us to use Reading A-z because it is cheaper than buying text books and is usable with all level readers k-8

You can download books so @ kid gets one and they can highlight and write in them. There are PHONIC pages and other worksheets. Very easy to use.

I have not used A to Z Reading but have heard that it is good./
