Can I leave school early in the day if I have a job?

I heard of kids that are seniors that leave school early to work. Could I do that in my sophmore year? I’m 15 and in Bradenton,FL. What are the laws about that here? Any other info I should know? Please list your sources.

You could – but do you really have to? Its honestly probably not worth missing out on class to work just so you can have some extra cash.

Maybe you can look into if your school has a period zero type thing – you can go in early for a period before the regular start of the day, and then either have an extra credit or leave early. Would this be possible? Offhand, I think that my local high school only allows this for upperclassmen, but schools and policies vary.

Don’t get your hopes up too high. Some seniors who have a shorter program may leave earlier since they are finished with all of their required classes for the day.

Other students may be in a cooperative education program where the school and certain employers cooperate in supervising students on a job.

I would say no since you’re only going to be a sophomore next year and you still haven’t received all your required credits. Seniors and some juniors are able to because they have almost all the required credits, maybe they just need a couple more.
