How can I meet other homeschoolers in my area?

Don’t get me wrong, my schoolfriends are great, but I really want someone that I can do things with during the day.

I participate in co-ops, sports, and field trips. I also have lots of friends at church that are homeschooled, so i talk to them. I would try signing up for a homeschooled sports team, or class. I am sure that there is a co-op somewhere in your area, or in the surrounding cities. Where I live at there are ALOT of co-ops, they even have one just for high schoolers, I will be doing that next year when I am a freshman. Co-ops are great ways to get to know people. I have lots of friends, in school, and homeschooled. I know what you mean about wnating homeschool friends who understand about being homeschooled, and it is nice to be able to do things during the day. I hope this helps!!!

Ask the public librarian if she knows of any HS’ers you could connect with.

Search Yahoo Groups for a local HS board and post there.

Do volunteer work in the community during typical “school hours”

Join a sporting team through your parks & rec district, a private school, or even a HS team.

Join HS’ing co-ops in your area.

Go to http://www.accuweather.com

Then community

Then photo gallery

Post your favorite photos and videos, rate those of others. You will see some other home school students under the title Weather Team

The Weather Team site is under construction, so for now we are using the regular photo gallery site, but hopefully it will be available soon where you can post photos, videos, facts about the weather, and anything you want. There also will be a forum. Areas of the site will be moderated to keep it safe for students. We will also be working with local television and radio to put together local events, or weather teams can host their own. It will take a little bit for me to build this to where I want it, but you will find it will be a fun place to hang out and meet people.

Good luck to you!

Bear with us as IT gets it all together, and I hope to see your photos soon 🙂

Try seeing if there are any homeschool support groups or co-ops nearby. Many of them have regular activities where you can meet others your age. Even at events as boring as a curriculum fair, you still have the chance to meet other kids who got dragged along too.

I have a friend in Ohio that is trying to get homeschool’ed and I can’t wait to see your answers…

Go onto Google or Dogpile and search “Home School Organization” and you will find lots of organizations that can hook you up.

Good luck!
