Why is it a neccesity to take math as a subject in school?

Some people/ kids hate math while others enjoy it. But is there a reason we have to take it? It’s not like we’ll all grow up to be math teachers.

Math like reading and writing skills is essential to everyday living. Lust as a person has to be able to read a sign, prescription, or directions, a person should have the arithmetic skills to figure out a percentage, understand the concept of compound interest, area, or basic measurements.

Algebra or higher math is not necessary for many people, but neither is literature, poetry, history, foreign languages, higher sciences, athletics, or art. But for a few higher math will be the key to their future careers. Ditto with every other subject.

For example I had to learn Chaucer, Joyce, and Shakespeare but never found a need for it in my line of work.

Because whether or not you grow up to be a math teacher, math skills are essential in making any important decisions. Besides, more than math teachers use math. Engineers, computer scientists, operations research analysts, and many other professions are based in math. But even in your normal profession, good math skills make you better at what you do. Math skills improve your reasoning ability, which is a trait most employers look for in an individual.

Math is a necessity in every day life. Almost every career uses some kind of math. Engineers, Computer Science, Mathematicians, Accountants, just to name a few. Without math we wouldn’t have computers or television or the internet – it all requires mathematical algorithms.

Even if you don’t use it in future careers you’ll need it for things like getting a loan (understanding the interests, down payments, principle, etc), buying a car or a house. Those are just a few things.

Well, certainly math helps us in many professions. If you cannot do at least 8th grade math, you will not be able to function in society well. Many professions will use a lot of what we learn in high school math (even ones that are not professions for which you need a college degree, like carpentry). So many fields of study involve math (biology, chemistry, physics, economics, business administration, accounting, computer science/computer programming, etc.).

Also, math should make you a better thinker, since you have to be able to think logically to complete many types of problems.
