They are young, stupid, invincible, think they already know everything.

I think there are several reasons. Here is my list. There are probably more. But this is my experience from teaching 2year olds to 6th graders (I have taught 1 year olds but unless you are playing a game its not really developmentally appropriate to tell them to be quite).

1. They don’t have the attention span to realize what they have been told and continue doing it for more than a minute or two (common in young ones).

2 They have never been taught to listen to someone

3. They don’t respect you.

4. They want attention (this could be for several reasons).

5. They want to encourage a power struggle

6. They are testing you.

because the current topic of private conversation between students outweighs their intrest in the lesson thats being taught for 5-10minutes

human nature

and i suppose they think the lesson can wait

this is much more interesting

Because they are immanture, young, think they know everything or they just want to to talk to their friends. Dont take it personal. I’m a first year myself but, my God, if I took it personal I’d go crazy already!

because they are not taught at home how to be respectful of their teachers- I know as I am a mom, and a teacher and I would beat the snot out of my kids if they acted that way!
