The two schools have pretty similar quality of students.

Florida State is the more highly rated school. In general, the best public university in a state is The University of . State University is usually second best. “Directional” Universities like Northern State University and University of Central are usually worse. But the worst are bidirectional schools — like North West State University.

Average SAT scores for those accepted at FSU are about 1775/2400 with 26% coming from the top 10% of their HS classes and 94% coming from the top half of their HS classes. They accept 49% of those who apply

UCF because it’s less popular than FSU — less people apply, so standards aren’t as high. But the application is the same and it doesn’t cost that much, so apply to both. You never know what the admissions offices are looking for that that point. And FL universities are harder and harder to get into, so I would look at Florida Gulfcoast, USF, FAU, or FIU. UF is the hardest state school to get into.

FSU. They teach differently. UCF is research based, while FSU is practical based.
