There are good school districts tucked away around most major cities. They could be city magnet schools or out in the suburbs. The best thing to do is research where you live now, or an area that attracts you as an adult (good jobs, housing not too expensive etc…) then start looking at county and state websites and evaluate individual school test scores for the schools that you are interested in. Take a look at teacher to student ratios and any special curriculum that a school might offer that would appeal to your child.

Good luck, it can be a lot of work, but worth it!

I would recommend any place where they have a truly alternative learning centre. If you’re only familiar with the traditional schooling system, you are sadly missing out on the amazing possibilities that are out there. Check out educationrevolution.org for more information on all the options available to you. It’s true that some alternative learning centres can be expensive, but many also have sliding scale tuition so you pay what you can.

If you really want the best for your child, don’t settle for the regular system. Know you choices.

I live in Jonesboro, AR. My little sister attends Valley View School, as I did. For the last couple of years, VV has been the best school in the state! We have t-shirts to prove it. . lol! Anyway it is a good school!

go to www.greatschools.net they have a great website that rates every school in the U.S according to test scores, attendance, and they have a spot for parent feedback.
