I have a BA ed. (ESL) and I was diagnosed as being dyslexic when I was in primary school. Knowing from my own experience of how difficult it is for dyslexics to integrate with mainstream education was my primary motivation to become a teacher (and school owner).

A few of the teachers I employ are also dyslexic, and together we feel that we can really make a difference in our dyslexic students’ lives because we’ve been there and ‘overcome’ that.

My unfortunate teachers often have to suffer my reading of passages during meetings from:

The Gift of Dyslexia:

By Ronald D. Davis with Eldon M.Braun.

If you’ve never heard of this book, I strongly recommend it.

Finally, just remember to visualize EVERYTHING for your dyslexic student(s).

I have a BA in Elementary Ed and I teach quite a few with dyslexia. Thankfully, my students with this get support from Reading Recovery teachers that give one-on-one instruction and support to overcome this.

** I had a student last year that struggled with dyslexia and Reading Recovery and regular classroom instruction was able to correct her problem for the most part.

B.A. or B.S. Education.

Bachelor of Arts in Education or Bachelor of Science in Education, commonly called a teaching degree. That’s a four year college degree, the next four years after high school.
