You would have to have a legitimate reason. “Bad teacher” isn’t legitimate, because the phrase is meaningless. How is the teacher “bad”?

Schools will not change a students’ class because of personal differences between the student/parent and teacher, nor for disagreements over strategies.

It varies. “Bad Teacher” is a subjective assessment. Principals really hate to move kids, even if the teacher whats a really horrid kid out of their class. And this is usually the hurdle a parent must get over… principals just don’t like to set a precedent ….On the other side, what does a principal do when the kid is so bad, NO TEACHER wants that kid???? For sure there are incompetent teachers, that ought never to have a class…. (maybe if teachers were paid more, the good ones would stay, rather than leave for industry and better jobs—but this is another issue, isn’t it?).

Parents, actually don’t have any rights regarding the choice of a teacher in that school. Principals have the right to say no…. teachers don’t really have the option of getting rid of a discipline problem…. YOUR options are to remove the child and enroll that kid in a private school, or see if you can get the district to release the child so that you can enroll the child in another district (school districts rarely do this) or go for home teaching.

the parent doesn’t have the “right” but they can talk to the principal and in some cases, they will move the student. I would sure try it if my child was having a hard time with a teacher

I am a teacher and the first answer said it ALL. I have never had a parent want their child removed from my room. In fact I have had parents move their kids into MY room!
