I agree, it is not fair. I teach 6th/7th grade science and an important safety rule is no food or drinks in the lab at all. I’ve been offered popcorn and other fundraising snacks by the principals. I have refused them. If my students are not allowed to have them, I, am not allowed to have them. Simple respect.

I do not chew gum in my class. When I set rules for my students, I always lead by example.

Somebody call the waaaaambulance!!! Teachers can chew gum b/c they don’t stick it under desks ,on walls, in other people’s hair, and on chairs.

prob. bc teachers have the right mind to throw the chewed up gum in the garbage cans while students put in under their desks, in books, on the wall, under the chairs, in someone’s hair and etc.

Because I don’t stick my gum under the desk, in your hair, or on your assignment. I also have coffee breath.

We (teachers) are adults and we went to college for four years so we have the right to chew gum or drink soda in class.

I guess because they are not students. Frankly I don’t think its fair either. Neither is teachers eating and drinking during class. I drink water and that’s it. But I let my kids get drinks during class.

You are correct, it isn’t fair. FACT: All the rules apply to everyone. If you can ask your principal, in a nice way, the question, maybe you might wake them up.

Do you want them breathing on you with their bad breath? 🙂
