If you quit teaching within the first four weeks do you still get paid?
I was teaching at a Texas Elementary school and quit during the fourth week. Will I still get paid for the first month?

It will depend on your contract. If it says you will be paid by the hour or the number of contact hours with your students then you will be paid.
But if it says otherwise, and you have a term or monthly/yearly contract with each salary to be paid according to their schedule, then you are in for nothing and much worse you could get charged for breach of contract.
It might also appear in your 201 file and will make job search difficult for you.
Have a talk with your boss and clarify matters or better still refer to your contract/appointment.

You will still get paid for the time you taught but the school district could bill you for the extra cost of finding a replacement. Most don’t but in many states they can. They can also request that the state recognize that you are in breach of your contract and revoke you teaching certificate. The exceptions to this are medical and family emergency issues which are covered under federal law. If you left on good terms with your principal he will most likely recommend that it was mutually advantageous for both parties and they will just pay you for the time you worked.

Did you just walk out on the job? If so, why? I would love to hear that story…
