I want to go to University of Southern California, how can I prepare myself for it?

I really want to go to USC and persue a career in music there, and also enjoy a regular college atmosphere. I’m only a freshman in high school, but I know the next 3 years will go by really fast, and I want to make sure I’m on my way. How can I better prepare myself for getting into that school?

I live near USC and I know plenty of people who go there. Heck, my uncle and dad went there. It’s not so hard to get into, but you have to be very focused and do well in school. It IS NOT a UC, and the UCs may be even harder to get into. I really want to go there too (we’d be going around the same time and majoring in similar things, oddly enough) and so we should be trying to do the same things: focus on what we want to major in (take a lot of music), take accelerated classes, take lots of academics, get high scores, get involved, and always try your hardest.

To keep you motivated, make a mini board and place it over your desk. Cover it in USC pictures. Come visit and find out everything you can.

Good luck!

UCs are so easy to get into, just get good grades: average gpa should be around 3.75 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), do a bunch of extracurricular activities, and volunteer. Keep in mind that you do have to eventually write those personal essays, so do something interesting while in high school and you’ll be able to highlight that, which should give you an edge.

PS: Don’t use AP/Honors classes to inflate your grades..

to tell you the truth I would cross their name off your list. I know 10 people that applied there with a gpa above 4.2, tons of extra curriculars and volunteer work, and nearly perfect scores on the sat and didnt get in. The only way that you can pretty much assure your admittance is by donating a bunch of money to the school. Sorry for the bad news
