My only suggestion is that you need to lay down the rule of engagement very early for class discussions. I know that trying to get people to agree to be more liberal and relax in discussion is not easy. But this is something that need to happen so that the level of respect in the discussion is healthy. For other kinds of work, I don’t think it’s a problem. Arab people are very keen in learning English. And they learn fairly quick too. As long as religion is not discussed, I think everything should be pretty OK.
2) Teach conversations about necessities (restroom, telephone, money, restaurants, bus, car, taxi).
3) Teach about family and school and work vocabulary and situations.
Teach them that they mis-read the Quoran and they will get 72 Sturgeons, not Virgins.
Teach them that $25K for blowing themselves away will not provide for their families.
I hope you’re somewhere safe.
