I am interested in becoming a substitue teacher in Polk County, Florida. I Looked up some requirements but they are not very specific. Has anyone done this or know how to go about it? Thanks!

You need a B.A. or working on your masters.

You need to visit and apply to each school you want to substitute at. Schools seek substitute teachers with certain skills and grade level expertise. They need to know that the substitute knows how to teach. You need a teaching degree especially in this challenging market. Math and science teachers as well as ESL teachers are in demand. Why not transfer to a teaching course and get a teaching degree? If you are in an affluent area of Florida you may be able to do tutoring in subjects that you are skilled in. You should also learn the notification process that occurs when a substitute is called.
