Everyone needs to take an English class. Heck! I teach English and would still benefit from taking a class because you never stop learning and even if the teacher is going over things you already know, you still could come away with a better grasp of why it’s “X” way rather than “Y.” Never mind that English is such a complicated language and the rules of grammar are extensive and a number of those rules have exception to the rules.
Also, what kind of English class are you talking about? A lit class, one that deals strictly with grammar, with writing? What?

Yes, when I was in school learning programming and electronics I never dreamt that I would end up writing text books and teaching for a living. So you never know where life’s river will take you.

If you want to graduate, yes. Besides, everybody could benefit from taking English. The more words we know, and the more we know about using those words, the better we can express ourselves. We don’t want to limit ourselves to monosyllabic utterances, do we?
