For someone who gets chills from any song with a profound message, it’s extremely hard to choose the one song that has affected me most. There are many ways to be “affected” by a piece of art. It may make you cry or it may make you think. Maybe you believe that being affected by a song means being left dazed and wanting to listen to it again. The song that has affected me the most is “Somebody’s Hero” by Jamie O’Neal.

Using the subject of a mother-daughter relationship was the first thing that guaranteed that I would notice this song. My relationship with my own mother confuses me so much that I’m always listening for songs that might represent it perfectly. After I first heard the song I immediately wanted to have my mom listen to it because I was curious if it would have such strong meaning for as it did for me. Listening to it a few times led me to realize that my mom is a lot like the mother character in the song as well.
