credo quia est absurdum

Are you REALLY aware of what our public schools are teaching our children?

I gleaned this from a class project in American history. It is part of an auto-biographic profile of one of the students.

“…I can confidently declare myself a Democrat. Although there are many issues I feel very strong about, there are those that really place me on the left side of the political spectrum. I am a big believer that society should help the individual-“from those according to their ability to those according to their needs.”

Note the direct quote from Karl Marx and the definite socialist viewpoint of this high school senior.

This is an example of our next generation of leaders.

It is frightening.

Okay, so what I see here is an 18-year-old who has thought through an issue and arrived at a decision that he or she identifies with socialism. Good for them!

It isn’t an 18-year-old socialist I fear. It’s an 18-year-old who makes decisions and choices based not on opinions but solely on what he or she is spoon-fed by those around him or her. That scares the heck out of me.

So, in your opinion, public schools should only let their students express good old capitalist viewpoints in projects? Or should they just lie about their opinions…. would that be better?

Just because a high school student has been reading Marx doesn’t mean s/he did it in school. And there are a lot more frightening ideas than that one that people hold. Just because something was written by Marx doesn’t mean you can automatically scream ‘frightening communist garbage!’ Have you actually thought about what that quote means?

This has constantly afflicted me. the common public college device helps issues that could desire to no longer study, yet prohibits issues that could desire to be allowed, alongside with prayer. i think they must be greater open-minded to each thing that scholars declare to have self belief, yet no longer coach own perspectives; in basic terms bypass away that to the mummy and dad. the school I attended as a freshman in highschool taught that each and each physique religions are a manufactured from guy’s want for solutions and are not real. this ought to by no ability be suggested in a lecture room; it would be left to the mummy and dad to tell infants what their own family contributors believes.

Have you ever spent time in a communist country?

I thought not.

Pure communism and socialism do indeed discourage initiative. They also leave the populace in a position to be unable to control their own government.

Capitalism is cruel (“Greed is good”).

Clearly we’re looking for something inbetween. Marx also said “Mama” at some point. Are all mothers bad because of it?

Have you ever read any Marx?

It’s interesting that students have opinions, but how does this say anything against the schools? Are you pointing your finger at the instution that’s helped millions of Americans improve their economic and job opportunities, the great American public schools, and saying, it’s broken let’s replace it with all private schools and return out country to 19th century education levels?

As an English teacher, I am in awe of the student’s writing abilities. If the entire essay was of this quality, then he’s been taught well. Do you know for sure that he learned this at school? Is there no chance his parents were involved in shaping to become what he is? After all, it takes a village to raise a child.

Sounds to me like one student has expressed an opinion. Do you think this should have been censored? Not printed? Not allowed? Hmmmm…..

You seem to automatically assume that this student was indoctrinated by one of his/her teachers. Have you considered the possibility that maybe this student has drawn his/her own conclusions from what he/she has experienced or from independent study?
