Are there any Spanish/foreign language teachers out there?

Ok, I know I have a long ways to go before I start my career (I’m a high school sophomore), but I know that I want to be a writer, journalist or Spanish teacher. This whole Spanish teacher thing is new to me. I started thinking about being one this year because my Spanish teacher is just awesome. I’m currently in my third year of Spanish. I’m planning on taking Spanish all my years of high school, and then I guess I’d need to take it in college right? So my question here is what kind of classes/degrees did you take/get in college? Is it possible to do something like major in English, but minor in Spanish, in case I decide that I don’t want to be a Spanish teacher? ¡Gracias!

I’m a German teacher, but the path is about the same:

when you major in Spanish, be sure to spend your junior year abroad, in a GOOD program (Spanish immersion, no English speakers anywhere). Most schools won’t be impressed with a minor in a foreign language, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a job teaching Spanish with only a minor.

Also – talk to your Spanish teacher! Your teacher will probably have suggestions on good colleges for you.

You’ll probably want to get certified in another subject, too (some states require it). A good option for you might be ESL.

I got a degree in Spanish Education. In college you need to take the Spanish classes and you will also need to take the education sequence. The Spanish classes are a interesting, especially when you get to take some of the literature classes. The education classes are boring but you just have to remember that you need to take and pass them to get to be a teacher.

I teach Spanish and I think I have the best job in the world! I really can’t imagine doing anything else. I am qualified to work on computers and could be making three to four times what I do as a teacher but I wouldn’t trade teaching for the world. I really do love it.

You can double major and that will make you more marketable in both areas.

Good luck!

Textbooks include a exceptional deal of bonus components, adding maps of international locations mentioned in unique items and worksheets, studying components, and extra. Actually, despite the fact that, such a lot of my worksheets come from a CD and a binder that my historical French instructor despatched me (I recognise, French for a Spanish instructor? Some wherein adaptable and a few a different French/Spanish instructor had tailored). Keep the ones connections with historical arms, since they have got well stuff they have got accrued over time. For my principal map, too, I use a global map that’s truthfully a tremendous piece of material with the arena revealed on it–from Wal-Mart, no much less! It does not get destroyed through pins or fade!
