If you want to be a teacher you better LOVE working with kids. There’ll be lots of them. Everywhere. All day long. It really is quite gratifying though and those little people can be quite cute. You also get a lot of vacation time and the pay is actually not as a bad as most people think. Go for your master’s degree, you won’t regret it because your paycheck will be bigger.

I have always wanted to be a teacher so for me it was an easy choice. I teach Special Ed so for me its a very rewarding job. Your getting to teach these children who are so eager to learn and your really making a difference in their lives. Teaching can be a lot of work with the planning and organizing everything but when you see the kids understanding somehting it is the best feeling in the world.

If your thinking about being a teacher make sure your ready to commit. It can be a lot of work but if it is something you enjoy it is worth it. Good luck with your decision

Honestly if you have to decide if you want to do it, you probably wont like it. Most good teachers who truly love what they do feel that they were made to teach. I would see if you can volunteer with young children at a school or youth activity to see if you really enjoy it. I actually got started by teaching dance to young children when I was 16. My husband is a teacher as well and started by coaching youth church basketball.

EDIT- I think if its something you “always wanted to do” then you should at least test the waters. As for the cleaning, you have to do a little, mostly keeping things organized. If you have great custodians (our school does) then you really have little actual cleaning. But I am very different at home and at school. At home, I have to MAKE myself clean. At school I feel like everything needs its place.
