[Students] Copyright ? Did your laptop ever be examined ?

I am going to study in the us , so I want to know if “copyright” for things in student’s laptop is strict. Dont blame me because I am from a asian country , copyright never touches there .

I urgently need your advice , windows, office. etc,..etc…

Plz tell me your experience , its valuable to me .

there is no copyright police.

an inspection would only happen if a rights holder were to make a specific and credible complaint against you. the internet connections on college campuses often have “filters” or monitors that will either prevent downloads or detect them so as to deter illegal activity.

if a number of illegal movies have been smuggled in from your country, the customs agents may demand to look at files on your laptop when you travel. i would erase anything questionable before international travel.

as to software, most colleges have special licenses and can provide you with essential programs either free or at low cost. check out the IT department where you are going, they most likely can provide you with XP and Office.

Not really. There’s no way for people to know if your PC is full of ‘pirated’ Softwares from eye perspective, unless they take it in and do some series cracking.

In general, as long as you don’t shout out “I have un-copyrighted material in my PC” from the top of your lungs, you should be fine.
