UVA SAT Scores?

Like all rising seniors of ’08, I’ve been thinking about colleges all summer.

So here’s the deal… I make great grades and take the most difficult classes, but my SATs are mediocre. I am instate and both my parents attended UVA as well. I’m also looking at Davidson.

CR:600

Math:620

Writing: 640

Is there a chance?

If you weren’t from Virginia, I think that you would be in trouble. But since you are a Virginian, you may still have a chance, if you got high grades and took a lot of AP or IB classes and earned good grades in them. Also, activities will be of some importance. I’d suggest you retake the test (and don’t forget about the SAT Subject Tests–they are important too). Spend some time this summer studying for it so that you can get better marks.

At Davidson, I don’t think that those scores will be high enough.

Middle 50% of First-Year Students

SAT Critical Reading: 600 – 710

SAT Math: 620 – 720

SAT Writing: 610 – 710

So you’re in the lower end of the middle 50%. Being in state helps. If everything else in your app is fantastic then you’ve got a chance. If you’re a rising senior, then just retake the test this fall (unless you’ve already taken it three times). That’s what I’m doing to see if I can improve my score of 1940. I’ll be applying to UVA as well. Good luck.
