Is there a website that lists the math/science proficency of a country?
I vaguely remember hearing news reports that compare countries based on math and science scores. Is there a site that lists proficiency by country and ranks them?

Yes. It is the Timss, Tims or Timms Study. I don’t remember what the acronym stands for (The International Math Science Study?), but I have seen all of the stats that compare various countries. The data measures performance for maybe three different grade levels. The United States has never been very high on the list, especially given that we are one of the richest nations, however, our placement has improved more recently.
The countries that score high really drill their students. Additionally Asian I.Q. scores are higher than Caucasian I.Q. scores which may permit Asian societies to offer a more rigorous curriculum and thus generate higher test scores.
