Question about my SAT and ACT scores and which one to send?

On my SATs, i got 800 in math, 770 in writing, but a 690 in reading, so thats a 2260 total.

On the ACTs, i got 36 in math and science and a 33 in reading and english with writing for a composite score of 35.

I also got an 800 on SAT subject tests for Math2, Chemistry, and Physics.

First of all, should I send both sat and act scores to colleges? If not, which one should I send?

Also, for several colleges that I’ve been looking at, my math and writing scores are above average, but my reading score is lower than average. Will admission officers reject me solely based on the low score for that one subject?

I haven’t been able to find average scores for the act breakdowns, but my act composite score is above average at the colleges I’m considering.

However, as I’m in the northeast, many schools say that they prefer sat scores but accept both. Does this mean that my perhaps lower sat scores will give me a better chance of acceptance than my act scores?

it is recommendable that you send both scores to colleges but visit www.collegeboard.com to see what colleges will accept along with your transcripts. it all depends on what college you want to attend. most colleges set their own standards as to what a student’s GPA is you may want to apply to a college that has a minimally difficult acceptance level.

Hope this helps!!!

You should send both of them to give colleges the most detailed picture of you as a candidate. Both sets of scores are very good, and neither will hinder your admission. In addition, you really don’t have much of a choice about the SAT because if you send the SAT subject test scores, the reasoning test scores will be sent on the same sheet of paper. They’re inseparable. Your ACT scores are better, though, so you should send both scores.

By the way, we have very similar scores. I have the same writing score, the same three subject test scores, and the same math and science ACT scores.

i might be mistaken, but I think when you took those tests they asked for a few schools that you would like to send those scores to and this was covered in the test’s cost. So if you wrote down which colleges, they already have your score.

If not, I am sure the colleges look at the best score so it wouldn’t matter. If you are seriously wanting to get into a specific college, I would pay the extra fee that’s like only $10 for additional scores to be sent.

It is a good idea to send the results of both exams, in order to help give the schools a complete picture of your academic abilities. Based on the scores you provided, it is highly unlikely that a school would reject you based on one “low” score. Keep in mind that test scores are only a small part of what schools consider when determining which students to accept. They are also looking for people who lead balanced lives, with a range of interests and activities, and who demonstrate perseverance and a strong work ethic. In addition to providing a complete picture of the academic side of you, be sure to find a way to let schools see the other sides of you. Find a way to stand out in the crowd, and schools will be competing to get you.

Good luck for a happy and successful future!
