The ACT does NOT count as the subject tests, sorry– if anything, it would be the equivalent of the SAT reasoning test, but not the subject tests; they’re above and beyond ACT/SAT scores, and are only required by some schools (usually the more competitive ones).

If you look at College Board’s page about the University of Washington (http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=3879&profileId=1 ) SAT IIs are not listed among the admission requirements… you might find the website for that university and look at their information or the application. If there’s a place for SAT subject tests, then taking them can only help your chances. But you probably don’t HAVE to take any. 🙂

International students need to have taken “the TOEFL, IELTS, or the UW administered MLT.” The SAT I or ACT are not needed, but you should submit them if you’ve taken them. The SAT II isn’t needed and ACTs shouldn’t count as subject tests.

No, most state schools don’t require SAT II’s and Washington is one of those.
