I will tell you from experience…there is absolutely no need to take physics to be a firefighter…haha…anything that you really need to know about physics in firefighting will be taught to you in academy, and it’s all very basic. When or if you decide to become an engineer (the guy that controls the water and pumps on the engines) you will learn everything in class…that being said, it wouldn’t hurt either to know…

But like the person up there said, get your EMT first, and then start testing for local departments. It’s kinda a good idea to get onto a smaller, part time department while you finish up any schooling you want to do before you test for large departments…

What you need to become a fire fighter is EMT training.

Most Fire Departments send you for the training.

Also you go through their simulated burning building and have to learn to scale a building. Also their is a question and answer period to see if you have good people skills.

To find out if their is a position open at your Fire Dept., call City hall and find out who your councilman is for your district.

He can tell you if and when the Fire Dept will be hiring and all the rest of the information that you need. The Fire Deptartment is paid through the city and some pull with a local councilman can help.

As far as Physics is concerned. Study it if you want but it is not necessary.

Good Luck.

i don’t think of you decide on any stages or interpreting something…i understand a fireman who purely did his 2 years at a community college for an affiliate’s and that’s it…for EMT, you in basic terms take some instructions for like a month at a particular college like an person college and bypass the examination…that’s exceedingly plenty it

not necessarily. All they want to see is all-around education. If you have good grades in other subjects, you can even skip physics and still have a fair chance. Good Luck

physics would be a tremendous help to save lives. but it would take less than a physicist to save more lives. and it would be a boost to your country to become a physicist to save the planet!
