Obviously you can read, and you can write clearly (although you seem to vary between proper English and text-talk) but the problem according to what you have said, is that you simply aren’t concentraging on what you are reading.

It’s a difficult habit to break, but it can be done. There are books available which have a series of questions at the end of each chapter. Some are texts, but others are fiction – you can usually find them through your local library reading groups. These will help you to focus on the material. But you can use another trick to help you maintain your focus. After you read a sentence, paraphrase it. After you read a paragraph, write a precis of it. While you are reading, underline key words to help keep you on track.

When you finish reading this response, go back and jot down the key words, or paraphrase what I’ve told you.

Learning to read in depth, rather than skim the material, is going to be critical if you truly intend going into law. Law books. torts, and all the legalese that they contain, isn’t highly entertaining reading, but it is very, very important.

Good luck with it.

READ. just read. period. it doesn’t have to be really heavy stuff. what you can do is find books about topics that interest you and then once you get the hang of reading those books you can graduate to harder stuff afterwards. it helps if you read everyday as well, not just school stuff but for pleasure.

oh, yeah btw aspiring lawyers also need to have good grammar because you’re screwed in law school if you can’t speak english well.

1. it’s “i do WELL in SCHOOL”, not “i do GOOD in skool.”

2. it’s “i’m CONCERNED”, not “i’m CONCERN”

3. an ellipsis has only three periods (…), no more, no less.

4. it’s “because”, not “cuz”

5. it’s “know”, not “noe”

6. “a lot”, not “alot”.

7. it’s “so do you have any tips for me SO THAT i could…”

8. “bored REALLY fast”, not “bored REAL fast.”

good luck. and work on your grammar as well as your reading skills. 🙂

Start with some genre you like, like do you like romance, mystery, sci-fiction, non-fiction, biography, horror? When picking the best one, this should draw you into the story like what happened, what is going to happen, will they fall in love? You have to have a really good book that you will be drawn too, that you just want to know what will happen. I reccomend reading Mystery or Romance, that will get you into the story.

picture what you are reading. it makes it a lot more interesting and helps you remember what you are reading better. with the law books find somethnig that will help you keep interest like “i didn’t know that was a law. it’s stupid.” or “i remember when _____ broke that law and had to get bailed out by his/her ex.” just something to keep you entertained that has somehting to do with what you are reading. and i like the idea to read to people who have troubles seeing. it’s nice and it will help a lot

Take your time reading.

Have a quiet study area.

Visualize what you are reading.

Read out loud and tape your reading.

Read a book to someone who has trouble seeing

(go to a nursing home perhaps).
