Equal weight is given to both.

However, colleges look at the level of classes you are taking. IB requires all of your schedule to be IB, whereas you can take as little as one AP class. The more higher level classes you take and the higher your adjusted GPA is, the better you look. IB typically gives students an edge because we are forced to take a certain number of high level classes.

IB isnt worth it, by the way. AP may not get you as much credits at a University, and the AP tests are much harder, but its much better than IB for your sanity.

I take IB courses at my high school…the programs are *essentially* the same thing but IB is scaled at an international level. The United States accepts both programs, but doesn’t favor one over the other. =]

At all the colleges I’ve researched, the colleges gave extra, equal weight to both AP and IB classes.
