I cant get over my failed math test?

ive gotten all classwork/homework question right. i studied. but for some reason i forgot one basic problem… that eventually screwed me up. i realized why i failed right after the test and that i could have gotten a good grade if i used that formula… tests are worth 90% of the class grade…. which means i have failed the class also. it was the first test of the year. what a bad impression. how do i get over this? i cant even face myself.

Is this a University or High school? I am not good in Math, but here is an advice

Just doing your homework, doesn’t mean you understood the question. You know in your heart how much you study for this test. When I failed my first Math test, I made a promise to myself. this won’t happen again. I have a brain and I will use it. I took math tuition and in the nest math test I got 98%. I studies day and night. I even went to the office hourse of my math instructor and asked him of any doubts I had about any question.

You can do it. failing one class doesn’t proove anything. You need to study hard. take the class again and this time give your 100%. Do not give up.

I’ve never heard of a test that was worth over 90% of an overall grade for the year especially being the first test? I know midterm and final exams are important but I don’t know what grade your in. Maybe have a discussion with your teacher and see if they will let you take a different test. Don’t worry about one little test to much or let that stress you you are at the beginning of the school year so the other tests and homework should help bring up your grade. If your teacher assigns extra credit assignment attempt those assignments at least it will show the teacher you are concerned and willing to work.

Awww—don’t worry so much, and don’t beat yourself up! I’ve gotten D-‘s on tests and still managed to pull my grade up to an A-. How? There are many more tests ahead. Do better on those, and you definitely won’t fail the class.

Also, don’t worry about making bad impressions in a math class. In an English class, impressions will count because grading is somewhat subjective. But in math? 2+2=4. It’s either right or wrong–totally objective.

Take a deep breath, recognize that your self-worth does not hinge on your test grades (it took me a while to get over my first really bad grade too), and do something fun.

No sir you haven’t. Teachers understand their students, and you are offered a retest anyways if it’s within 7 school days since the first time you took the test. If you got lower than a fifty the highest grade you can get is an 80 on the retest. If you got higher than a fifty you can get a grade of up to a 100 on the retest. Anyways, use your knowledge to it’s maximum potential and be able to use the formula correctly for next time.

Wow…don’t be so down on yourself. Like you say, it’s the first test of the year. So you’ve got plenty of chances in the near future to make up for this one test. You haven’t failed the class by failing one test, either. I bet if the teacher graded that way, then 3/4ths of the class failed.

It’s okay. This happened to me one year, and I completly gave up. The most important thing is not to give up. Just work really hard on the next test. I don’t know what school you got to, but at mine if you fail a test you get recovery. That means that you get to retake the test. Talk to your teacher and see if you are allowed to do this. One the next test go in for a morning study session if she has it. Going to one will help you keep the lesson fresh in your mind til the test. I hope this helps.

No it’s ok. I have this dumbass teacher for math and she doesn’t teach us anything. Don’t worry it’s the beginning of the year, I failed my first test. You’re just going to have to review the material on your own. Relax, man.

I hope this isn’t basic math that you’re failing.

Problem with today is that calculators are allowed in school to perform tasks as simple as 1+1

just make sure, that you really try your best. As lon as you really try your best, it doesnt really matter, the teacher didn explain correctly or the way you need to be explained to understand.
