how i should prepare for gre exam?

Here are some tips that we tell our students:
1. As someone mentioned, get a GRE book. We use the Research and Education Association book (general test) ISBN: 0-87891-445-5
2. Prepare WELL in advance. Practice, practice, practice.
3. gre.org has the GRE Power Prep tests that you can download. There are two practice test. Take one without any studying – this will help you determine where you are lacking. Then, use the book to study to your specific needs.
4. If you are in college, contact your financial aid office to find out if you qualify for a GRE fee reduction waiver. That way, the cost will be 50% for you, instead of 100%.
5. The gre.org website has tons and tons of practice materials. Just search their site.
6. If you want to know the target scores for your area, that is where you should be contacting graduate schools and the program in your specific area — they will help you determine what scores you should aim for. If you are a math/science major, then the quantitative score will probably be 600+ and the verbal will maybe range from 450 -500. It really depends on your program of study.
FYI – the GRE has had plans for the last two years to change their testing format. They have delayed the changes for both years. However, if you are studying right now, you probably want to schedule your test date (they will fill up quite fast). I recommend that you register for August, before school starts up.
Best of luck to you!
Borrow a GRE practice book from the library.
Practice actual tests for the actual duration. You should find tests in the local UESI.
