It means you did not do well on the test that you sat – it does not mean that you are “not smart”.

There are many folks how are NOT acadmically gifted at all – and tend to get scores WAY below average. There is OFTEN a reason why this is so – other than the student not being very bright.

Poor teachers is a big one – I left school with *1* o-level having tried quite hard, then went to a different establishement with WAY better teachers and piucked up four more easily in the first year.

Equally, academic brilliance has VERY little to do with common sense and “ability to get on with life”. there are plenty of tales of folks leaving school crammed with qualification who end up serving fast food – and more than a few cases of people leaving schools with virtually no qualifica\tions – and end up owning their own businesses.

If you are not happy with you score and want to do better – great – but if you are giving it all you can, then perhaps just start to think about where you REAL skills do lie – not everyone is academic – but that does NOT mean you are not bright.

I haven’t a clue what the “precceding direct object” means in foreign languages – but I do run my own property business – a lack of academic knowledge is NOT a problem for many people – it just means you have even more incentive to rise to the top of the heap under your own steam quicker.

You will need to take “remedial” course work in that specific area. Now, if your composite score was a “9” then most probably you should take a remedial English to help you get up to speed.

BUT, if you feel that you could take a English lit class and perform all expected work(term papers, heavy reading{40-50 pages a week}, writing in different modes{comparison/contrast, etc…} and most of all how to be articulate and express it) then go for. Take the English lit class and try it. Go talk to the teacher/Professor !!!

My composite score was a 23 and I found that walking into a freshman level English class was a bit intimidating for me. I dropped it and immediately transferred to remedial English class. My high school did not prepare me for this and I am glad I made the decision.

I am now pursuing a graduate degree and find that I really did not understand what college is about. LEARNING.

Don’t be afraid to take a step back, to take two steps forward.

Don’t be afraid to expose yourself to new ideas.

Don’t let anyone tell you, “you can’t do that.”

Be prepared to learn how to apply some self discipline to your academic carrier. Know when to study, sleep, work and party.

But most of all, Know when to say when.

It just means you probably had a bad day. I found those ACT prep books really helped me get my mind into shape to take the tests, especially where they had actual old versions of the test for you to practice on. Try and take it again and get a better score.

It only means that you got a 15 on that test on that day. Smart has nothing to do with it. Bill Gates never finished college.

It may. But it could also mean you just don’t test well. It may mean you got a crappy education. Or that you don’t speak English well. Or that you just had a really bad day. Go back and study hard, and try again. You may surprise yourself.

It’s not a great score, but it could mean that you test poorly, were nervous, had a bad day, or any of a wealth of others factors that can cause a low test score.

Consider re-taking it.
