What is the best way to compare school districts special education programs on Long Island, NY?

We may be moving and I do not feel that my child’s needs were ever met in his current school district.

I tried a few sites but they compare overall test scores of the entire school and are so confusing to decipher as well.

Thanks.

Find out what they offer in regards to transition. There are meetings for parents of children with special needs through organizations such as ARC. There is probably a branch for your area. It would enable you to talk to other parents and find out how they feel. Depending on your child’s needs you may ask what programs they use as Ed Mark for reading. Also, go to the school and interview them by talking to diagnosticians and principals. If you don’t get a good feeling from them, you probably need to find a new school.

easily frequently that’s much less probable that a school district will somewhat qualify a newborn as a particular desires newborn through fact the college district spends ($X) on each and every newborn for widely used coaching. particular coaching scholars in lots of circumstances require 2-thrice as plenty money for the centers they choose. as a result it extremely is unlikely that a district could qualify scholars unnecessarily considering funds has again from someplace and that have not have been given any extra to paintings with commonly.

I live in Queens NY and I would say that it would depend on where on Long Island you live. IF you live near Queens you might consider some of the schools in Queens but since you haven’t said what your child’s disablitiy is I can’t give you specific information. I have a daughter who goes to a school for children with learning disablites and some of them come from Nasuua. IF you llive in Suffolk I would say go to the VESID web site for NYS and find the school in your area that deal with your son’s disabiltiy. That’s how I found my daughter’s school. The next issue is proving to the school district that they can’t educate the child the way that he needs to be educated. I did that by talking to every medical professional that she saw to write a letter saying that she needed special education classes with a 12:1:1 which means twelve students to two teachers. With children on the same IQ level that she is. But first I had her tested by a private nuero-psychologist sepreate from the school to make sure of the dignoses and to make sure that what’s going on is what I think it is. When That was proven to be true I could go back to the school and say that A has XYZ and you can’t teach for that so what are you going to offer her? When I didn’t agree with what they wanted to offer her that’s when I requested a non-public school setting. With the letters from all of her doctors stating that she needed special settings for school it took a while but I got it. I started this in Dec before she graduated school in the sixth grade becasue I didn’t want her to have to go through junior high and high school in public school. When she left public school she read on a 4th grade level when she left the lower school in June of 2006 two years later she was reading on a high school reading level. Last year she was on the honor roll all year for the first time in her life. To me it was definitly worth the fight. if you need help email me that’s what I do advocate for children with learning disablities.
