It is a very good degree. I started out my college career majoring in Athletic Training.

There will always be a need for medical care in athletic programs, and athletic trainers are usually the first ones to treat injuries, and the ones that facilitate the rehabilitation process.

I loved my time in undergrad. I went to a small D-3 school and worked with nearly every athletic team @ the school. I also worked @ a local high school and larger university. It was fun but very time consuming. I was very close with my classmates because we spent A LOT of time together. Also I think that anyone interested in athletic training should really have an interest in medicine and the human body. Too many people have gotten to college and applied for the athletic training program only to find out that it was not what they expected. Yes you spend a lot of time around sports and athletes, but you spend more time learning evaluation methods, nutrition, pathology, physiology, taping and bracing, etc. I enjoyed my time in education so much i’m back working on a master’s degree in athletic training 😉
