Hello NavyAviation:

mevadus has some good thoughts. Apply to the Naval and Air Force academies as well. You might also look for Schools in Florida that offer Air Force ROTC, or look at schools that are commutable to the NROTC school of your choice. You don’t have to be enrolled at the NROTC university to participate in the NROTC program; you can take your core classes at one university, and take the NROTC classes at the other.

If your focus is flight, talk to the recruiters about other available options. You need not sign up, they would be pleased to speak with you.

To get into the academies, you will need good grades, some leadership (school council) and a sport. To be a pilot, you will need excellent health, physical stamina, and perfect uncorrected eyesight.

Speak with your High School guidance counselor, and the military recruiters, as well as the NROTC Professor at your prospective school.

Best of Luck

I suggest you still apply for the program which only accepts for kids. How many of your peers have committed to something like getting their Eagle done. You are way ahead of the game. Don’t give up. Just keep your grades up, and with your Eagle you have a good chance to do anything. Although most civilian jobs won’t recognize the Eagle Scout award for what it truly means, the Military will. They love Eagle Scouts. Good luck.

Think about applying to Military Academies as well.
