Every Deaf person who attends GU will have a different answer I’m sure, but one of the main benefits is to be able to live among other Deaf people and communicate more easily. They can improve their sign language skills and be able to take classes taught in their own language. They can take courses relevant to Deaf culture. They don’t have to frustrate themselves or others with problems of lack of understanding. They can take part in conversations instead of being ignored.

Imagine having to use an interpreter to go to college because almost no one there speaks your language. Imagine either being able to look at the slides, take notes, or understand the lecture, but not being able to do more than one at once well, if at all. This is the experience of many Deaf people who attend normal universities.
