The best asset a person can have life long is EDUCATION. Do not drop off. Your education will make you proud. Keep going no matter what.

People learn at different rates, but that doens’t necessarily mean that they should NEVER be in school. Are there any subjects that you do well in besides Math? Sometimes Math and English are among the hardest subjects. If I asked you to tell me about your favorite singer or group, could you tell me the names of the band members and their birthdates?

If so, then there might not be anything wrong with your brain as far as learning is concerned…you just might need to have the information posed to you in a more fun and interesting manner. There may be schools that you can attend that can teach you only the basics…because most high schools are going to be preparing you for college. So if you’re not planning to go to college, then you could at least finish high school (a diploma in necessary in most jobs, I think) then you have a little bit more of an option.

I work at a community college and I know there are programs here for people who learn in different ways. I would never discourage anyone to attend college…even if it’s at the community college level, you’ll still get a decent education.

Hang in there!!!!

I would try homeschooling, or maybe seeking a tutor. School can be embarrassing when you don’t learn the same way as other students. I dropped out, and consider it a huge mistake in my life. I ended up getting my GED a few months ago, and got a small scholarship through the college I took the test at. You can go to college without completing high school.. but if I were you, I’d stay in school. Talk with your teachers, maybe with your mom and let them know what your problems are, and see what they can do to help you learn.

DEFINITELY do not drop out of high school. It sounds like you definitely have Learning Disabilities and possibly ADHD. If that is the case, you are eligible for special education services. That means you can get help by being put in smaller classes and having teachers who understand what these disabilities mean and how to work with them. Having a learning disability is nothing to be ashamed of. There are many successful people with learning disabilities! You never know what potential you may have!

The best thing to do is get information! Talk to your mom. Ask her to talk to psychologists that can have you formally tested.

Do you currently have an IEP – an Individualized Education Plan? If not, getting special education services means you WILL have one, which would hopefully get you an education specifically tailored to meet your needs!

Good luck!

Asking&Receiving
Hi,

Stay after school. Ask the teacher for help. Ask him or her to explain step by step. Write down the steps. Draw a picture. The teacher will help make a mathematics picture that is meaningful.

In a word problem, write down the large words. Ask the teacher what they mean, and write it down, Use them in a sentence that you make up, and your teacher says is right.

Ask your teacher if you can use a calculator. Write the keys you push to show your work, so the teacher will give you partial credit, even if you are wrong, and then you can pass.

Teachers really like it when students come after school for extra help, and the teacher will explain it the right way. If you do not understand, then ask your teacher to expalin more, or explain differently. ALWAYS TELL THE TEACHER THE PART YOU UNDERSTAND! Teachers need encouragement too, and then they help even more.

I believe that you can do it!

Ignore the doctors and anyone that says you cant do it. You can do anything you set your mind to. and trust me, don’t drop out of school, you’ll regret it. I dropped out my freshman year, different reasons… but still I ended up wanting to go back, and I ended up doing it. It took me so long to figure out how to do it all, I was struggling the last three years of school trying to make up my credits. and guess what. I hate so many people telling me I couldn’t do it, and a few people that actually believed in me. I had a really hard time on tests and learning certain things. but I did it, and I really hope you stay in school. you can go to college if you put in your all! Good luck, and don’t forget to have fun!

Stick With It! Believe me… You want to graduate from high school. You don’t have to go to college to be successful, but your life will be hell without a high school diploma. You’ll be lucky to get a job as a janitor without one. It sounds like you’re not getting the right kind of help. I would have your mother set up a meeting with the school psychologist, in order to have you tested for learning disabilities. Once your problem areas are found, the school will know what kind of help to give you in order to be successful. Good Luck!

DO NOT drop out of school! Different people have different learning styles. You may need a tutor; you may need to apply yourself more than anyone else in your class; but you CAN do it! And the pride you will get from being able to tell your mom’s psychiatrist that he was wrong is worth every bit of sweat you will put in. DO NOT let anyone put limits on you! If you have ADD or ADHD, you can get help (meds or tricks to help) so concentrating will be easier. PLEASE don’t give up on yourself!

NEVER DROP OUT OF SCHOOL!

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do anything, you can go to college if you really want to, you will have to work hard, and study more. All people learn at a different speed, no person is exactly the same. Your education should be your #1 Priority.

*If you think negative, you will receive negative results.

*If you think positive, you will receive positive results.

**And don’t forget to pray. Prayer changes things!

hey, first of all, don’t listen to anyone else. if u want to go to college. make it happen. its sounds like u might have some severe ADD/ADHD. go see ur pediatrician ASAP and they can help diagnose u and put u on medicine to control it. insurance should cover it. im sure ur smart, but this is a real disease and can really inhibit ur learning. talk to ur mom right now and tell her u want to talk to ur doctor about this. it really does make all the difference in the world, i know from personal experience
