behavioural questions at interviews help!?
Favorite Answer
First prong is to identify why the child is engaging in the problem behavior and use pro-active/ antecedent interventions to either teach the child a more appropriate way to deal with anger, protest etc and then talk about positive methods for encouraging and rewarding this behavior. Always spend more time and focus on these positive aspects of the intervention. Most people jump to and focus on the consequences and this is often not a positive thing. The second prong is making sure that if all the positive supports are in place and the child does engage in the problem behavior there are consistent, logical and reasonable consequences that are applied systematically. Try to not refer to last resort consequences such as sending him to the principal or calling and administrator unless the behaviors are a danger to himself or others.
Good Luck.
