In a report or essay, do you need to underline the title?
It’s a title of what I made up.

Do not underline your own title or place it in quotation marks. If your title includes the title of a novel, play, or long poem, that title within your own title should be underlined or in italics; if your title includes the title of a short story or short poem, the title of the story or poem should be placed in quotation marks.
Good luck!

It usually depends on the teacher. I used to do underling and bold back in Junior High School but when I got into High School, some teachers had their own format for the title that we had to use.

i don’t like underlining things, so i never do, but you have to make sure that it stands out as the title. always give it a separate line (like, duh) and another underneath, and you could write it larger or make it bold or right/centre justified, i usually do that.
