I love the personification here. But, it affects me personally taken out of context as a statement to do with empathy, ignorance, and narcissism, I suppose.
Too often we judge others, their circumstances, their lives with a detached, selfish, totally subjective frame of mind.
We are unable to relate our own personal experiences directly and completely to another’s experience. The only thing we can do is “assume” and make “judgements” without fully having experienced what another has experienced.
Sometimes, it feels to me, that too many people judge what another’s circumstances are, and what is and is not possible within them, and more generally what their life is all about…..But, all without this actually being a realistic possiblity and without ever *really* knowing anything at all.
It is a sure way to know when someone is trying to cover up a lie – they protest way too much – very helpful in crime investigation, and also when trying to find the culprit in the argument of children.
“They laugh that win” Shakespeare
“Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once.”
-Julius Caesar, Act II, Scene II
it means to be that we always have a choice. to go in one path or the other. and each path leads to a different outcome.
it affects me because life in general is just a summation of all the choices we make. where were are right now and where we will be in the future depends on the choices that we make in our lives.
Arise fair sun and kill the envious moon”
