I actually just got mine this year. If you’re considering going into IB don’t fret. It’s not as difficult as some people make it out to be. You learn a lot. And it’s a lot of fun too. The exams are so much better than AP (Advanced Placement) exams because the examiners give you points for what you know, not penalize you for what you don’t. I can’t write down everything I know because it depends on where you take IB that will determine what your experience is like. I hope you go into it though; it was a wonderful experience for me. I ended up being able to cut nearly a year in college because of it.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a challenging two-year curriculum, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19. It leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities.

Students learn more than a collection of facts. The Diploma Programme prepares students for university and encourages them to:

* ask challenging questions

* learn how to learn

* develop a strong sense of their own identity and culture

* develop the ability to communicate with and understand people from other countries and cultures.

Schools teach the programme in English, French and/or Spanish.

The Diploma Programme is one of three programmes offered by the IB.

IB is for students that learn for the sake of learning. Its a pretty challenging program so if u do it, you have to commit all you’ve got. Its almost like AP exept for the fact that its harder and its more international based. If you want to go to a school outside of the US, IB would be a good choice. You can even study abroad your jr and sr year if you want to. There are schools in Germany and Japan that are available. Also, there is the TOK class (theory of knowledge) that is all about philosophy. Colleges don’t really look at it differently from AP though. Its mostly about how much you like learning.
