Beginning Algebra Slopes?

I keep doing the problem over and over and i am just not convined that the answer is correct. Can someone help me…please.

M=70-12 (over) 96-80=58/16=3.625

What i am doing is using the ordered pairs (1980,12) and (1996,70) i need to find the slope of the line.

Thing is in class i dont ever remember an answer coming out with a decimal like that answer that i have found above.

Is it right? If not can you help me.

It enables to first graph the line typical kind is y=mx+b you have m(the slope) m= -a million/2 Now b would b the element the place the line touches the y axis. Plug those into the equation. in case you cant graph it do right here: (-4) = (-a million/2)(12) + b -4= -12/2 + b -4(2) = -12/2 (2) + b -8 = -12 +b -8 + 12 = -12 +12 + b 4 = b

the equation for slope is y1-y2/x1-x2

if you plug this in you get 12-70/1980-1996

subtract you get -58/-16

this is the same as 58/16

slope is a fraction (rise/run)

this is a totally normal answer, just leave it in fraction form and it is perfectly easy to graph

slope=58/16 then you stop cause its rise over run you dont need the decimal
