Would you send your child to a 4-hour day year round school instead of the one our system has now?

A four hour system that does not allow for any unnecessary wasting of time, and gets right to the heart and meaning of studying in the first place. This type of system would go year round in order to constitute contineous learning, and implement more shorter vactions. An example would be 3 months on, 1 month off. Give your thoughts and concerns.

I always enjoyed more shorter breaks than fewer longer breaks when I was in school. The system I had in grade school was 9 weeks on, 2 off. This went four times and the last break was 2 months. I always felt that the 2 week breaks were too short and the 2 month break was too long.

I’ve gone to school in a system that gives like 2 weeks for Christmas, couple days for Thanksgiving and 3 months for summer and I enjoyed the previous much more because it breaks school in to shorter sections so its more difficult to get behind and it gives you continuous breaks to look forward to as incentives to continue working and prevent monotony.

Going for a shorter more intense amount of time might be better depending on the student. I for one was not (still not really) incredibly social so I always felt the long school days were torture in high school and I was always pressured into uncomfortable situations and to socialize (actually ended up making the problem worse, not better). Lunchtime was a nightmare for me half the time I was in school. I would be a much better person today with fewer problems if I simply got my school work done and went back home everyday keeping the socializing to a minimum.

If the child is more pro social, longer days would maybe make school more enjoyable, which it should be, and perhaps be conducive to learning. Then again I suppose it could also distract the student from the purpose of school – to learn. This all depends on the student’s will to learn.

No . That would be monotonous, drab and boring for the boy and parents alike. We need change. And we need education. School ,whatever its form may be, is a formal institution. A developing child needs Parents’ love, discipline, new experiences, social interaction, not in a mechanical way, but in a natural flow. A 4hour, 365 days school regimen would give the child no time for outings, going to grand parents and relatives, and for other activities that require more time. And above all, change in routine is a must for the boy as well as for every one. can we afford 365 days office? Even MNCs are including leisure activities, outings, parties, for their workers, to make them more productive, creative and socially interactive. We all need it. A child, of any age, would be filled with a thrill feeling, when asked to change the routine for a few days, Don’t deprive him of these things.
