Which is better? Public high-school or private high school?

Just want to know. LOL.

It really depends on you. Check out some websites of private schools. They are usually very college-focused and foster a sense of community between students. Also, since they have a huge income from their students, they arn’t financially starved like some highschools, so they will probably have newer technology and smaller class sizes. Public high schools tend to be more relaxed, with more focus on each class then each individual student. You will have to do the work yourself, because nobody is going to force you to do it! It really comes down to a personal choice, and also if you are willing to spend a few thousand dollars a year to go to school. If the public schools in your area are really sketchy and gross, consider a private, but if they appear to be lively and have a sense of community, there might not be the need to spend all that money. 🙂

I personally think private, to me it prepares you more for college and diversity. Not all the kids are rich- a common misconception, in fact half cant afford it without scholarships and financial aid. Also our high school receives a lot of foreign exchange students from just about ever where so that you can learn more about different cultures and adapt. In addition, my private high school is ultra competitive in academics with at least 4 to 5 seniors out of 100 each year going to top ivies like Harvard Princeton Yale MIT etc. as well as everyone going to college after. There are, however, good public high schools, but there harder to find because they don’t have the income that private schools do.

I believe that it depend on the child in question. I went to a private HS and had a great time and learned a lot but I think that I lost out on a lot of the different opportunities that the local HS offered. My Private HS is now only coming out of only traditional classes and branching out in to others.

As for environment, the reason i went to private HS was because my public HS was too large for me. Kids still did drugs, smoked, drank and had sex (in the chapel…) but that stuff happens no matter where you go.

In private school it is a privilege (that your parents pay for) to go there and i believe there is less fooling around in class you are expected to learn. So you learn more because of less distraction etc. But in private school you have to keep in mind the rules. If you are someone that doesn’t like authority then public is the way to go because of conflicts that can arise with officals

It really depends.

I attended a private high school that offered an amazing education. The majority of us were college prep and went on to college after graduation. I loved the experience and still use things I learned regularly. My parents sent me to private school because the public schools in the area we lived in weren’t that great.

I’ve taught in both private and public schools. The private school I taught in was…OK. I’ve been teaching public school for 12 years and have worked in good schools and average schools.

Both public school and private school have their good points and their bad points.

both are great. i’ve went to a public school all my life, and i know people who’ve attended private schools. i think public schools are going to prepare you more for the real life. in real life, parents can’t pay for their kids to be with people that are all good and nice. they are both great in their own ways, but you can’t be sheltered from the real world forever. i just think public schools are the way to go. but if your public school is truely that bad, private is the way to go.

Public- You can still get a good education (most of the time) and not have to pay any extra.

i just had my daughter switched to private school..the kids are like minded and goal oriented and colleg bound…in public school the kids are more concerned over what people are wearing, screwing, or who they know……
