What year in high school do you recommend a student take the SAT?

I am interested in knowing whether the exam should be taken in the Sophomore or Junior year.

Junior year is better recommended but you can start taking it at the end of your sophomore year. If you wait too long you’ll only have one or two chances before college. It’s good to take it at least twice, but if you insist on taking it early, wait until the end of your sophomore year.

Sophomore would be better, because Junior year is when the students all get stressed out studying for all the other big exams.

Find out if you can take the PSAT in your state for free your Sophomore year. This will give you a good “base” to jump off from as far as studying goes (and give you an idea of your weaknesses.)

Then take it at least once near the end of your Junior year to see how far you’ve come and where you need to go.

take it early junior year.. study over the summer. if you don’t do well, you have a couple more times to up the grade. don’t take it sophomore year, chances are you won’t do so hot. also it looks bad if you take the sat 7 times to get a high school, so there’s no point in taking it that early

Junior at the earliest. It will get you a chance to take more math and english classes. I wouldn’t do it before the end of junior year. If you do badly then you can retake it in the fall of your senior year.

i definetly would! even if it will kill your ranking, itll look AMAZING on college apps, so go for it! plus, if your going to be a french major, itll add even more to college stuff. if youe that concerned about family, look into a semester, or just think about how much theyll miss you and love you when you come back! they say absence makes the heart grow fonder
