Read. Constantly. It’s the BEST way to be a nerd. The more you read, the more you learn. Grammar, vocabulary, culture… even from cheap fiction. You can sound more educated, and be more knowledgeable. Even nerdier, read NON-fiction. You’d be amazed what you can learn, how your reputation as a nerd will grow and expand if you can randomly tell people that the speed of light is 670 million miles per hour…

And if you really want to do well, study hard. Nothing says “nerd” like studying.
