I have not been a student in a few years, but I do teach high school and observe lots of ninth graders. Here are my two cents:

Are classes harder? Well, that just depends. If you say you did pretty well in school, then probably not. Just remember that grades count now and if you want to take AP courses in the future, you need to maintain those good grades.

Fashion? I say just wear want you feel comfortable wearing. If you are one who follows up on the latest fashion fads, then alright. But if you’re not so fashion savvy, don’t change that simply to fit in with the crowd. (And follow the dress code, trust me)

Dont, Don’t, Don’t date a junior or a senior!

You are going to meet people, whether you are in class with them or you participate in sports, band, drama, clubs, etc.

Everyone says ‘be your self’. How true that is. But understand that not everyone is going to like you, and that is okay. Don’t change who you are really are to please everyone, or you end up pleasing no one (especially yourself)

Also understand that you are going to do some silly things because although ninth graders may be mature, they are in many ways immature. That’s just how people are at this age. If you do something silly, just laugh it off, make it a fun memory, and then you can write it in your senior memory book a few years later under ‘Hey..remember the time that I….”

And finally, most ninth graders are worried about ‘what people will think of them’. Truth is, most people only are thinking only about themselves.

Good Luck in high school, and don’t sweat it! It will be fine!

Hi! Welcome to high school! It’s scary at first, but then you walk around the school and it’s like “Okay. I can handle this.” There will probably be PLENTY of new faces to see and probably PLENTY of old faces to see too! Don’t just stick with the old faces (friends from middle school). Find some new faces and make some new friends! You’ll love it. Clubs are cool. Join one as soon as you can. Band is also rewarding…or a sport if you’re athletic. As for fashion, wear what you want. School isn’t a big fashion show. You’re mostly there for learning. Fashion’s fun though-you can get a little glamorous if you want! 😉 Don’t worry about boyfriends…some of them are bad news! I also advise you to GO TO BED EARLY! I had to learn it the hard way. lol Yawning nonstop during class… =~o <---yawning in class Do your schoolwork and do all this other stuff I mentioned, and you'll feel like a million bucks! P.S. Get on your teacher's good side lol

I’m by no means a high school student (unless we’re still in the late 80’s/early 90s). But there is one thing about being a Freshman, or a high school student in general, that if I could go back and do it all over again, I would.

That is… I wouldn’t be afraid of what people thought about me; I wouldn’t let my obsession with people’s perception of me affect my own behaviors and decisions of who to befriend. I would realize that everybody in the building who shows up on that first day has the same anxieties, insecurities, and inhibitions that I have. I would be just be myself. I would be nice to people, and disregard people who are mean to others out of their own insecurity, because at the end of the day, they’ll be the ones without friends to support them.

You’ll have classes with other “people”, regardless of their age or standing. Most of the older kids couldn’t possibly care any less what year you are in school. What’s important in high school is the same thing that’s important in any other social environment: the content of your character, and your integrity to your personal values. Be the kind of person that people like. Be who you are. And you’ll find these might just be the best years of your life.

Here is some great advice I personally think you should take:

Do amazing in school it will bring you nothing but good things.

Smart, intelligent girls are very attractive.

Do a sport or two be active

Always have a nice personality, dont start drama and dont get involved in other peoples business.

Be respectful, on time and never act up

Be true to yourself dont be what you think others would like

Dont act slutty towards guys or come off easy because then guys will try to take advantage of you

First and fore most just have fun, be calm and just act like its another day at school!

Good luck

I know it’s tough; I’ve just gone through something similar… entering a Junior College. =_=||

The most important thing is to be yourself! =) Don’t appear to be too arrogant and it’s fine to appear as the ‘goody two shoes’. The teachers will go easy on you. ^_^ Heheh~

Find friends that you can hang out with, FAST. Because before you know it, everyone would’ve their own clique and you’d be the only one left out. Try not to let that happen. =)

I can’t say anything about fashion since in my school, we have to wear uniforms. -_-|| Haha~

I hope you’ll have fun! Just make sure you don’t let your grades drop! =)

All the best! ^_^
