JUST ME

What’s the hardest year of high school…Thanks for answers too?

I’m in my Junior year of high school and it is HARD.

Last year I was in three honors and the rest college-prep classes but I was upgraded this year to all honors classes and I am overwhelmed with schoolwork already. (It’ll probably go away soon because I had a schedule change and have to make up two weeks of work). But even without the make-up, I still feel overwhelmed. Last night I stayed up until 3:45 to perfect my essay (to the teacher it’ll probably be an A-) and woke up again at 5:30 to study for a test.

I know that the Junior year is the most important year of HS, and I don’t want to mess that up.

Which leads to my questions:-)…

1. Is the Junior year the hardest year of HS?

2. Can you give me tips on how to succeed this year (my grades have dropped from last year). Like organization, which I’m horrible at, study tips and foods that will keep me concentrated.

Oh, lasty, I have never been able to do this:

PRIORITIZE…how to do this and TIME MANAGEMENT

You think you are having a hard time this year. Just wait until your senior year. I think one of the things that you need to concentrate on is getting used to the work load. In time you will learn organization skills and prioritizing. If you feel your grades slipping then ask for some help from your teachers and also sign up for extra credit. Also judging by the type of student you are then make extra sure that you have a nice quiet area in which you can go and study. In your bedroom for example if you do not share a room with a sibling then make sure that the room is adequate for your quiet time for a few hours a night. Also don’t stay up until all hours of the night studying or getting something done. If you do not get it done that night then there is the next day. Depriving yourself of sleep is probably the worst thing you can do to yourself. Also make sure that you have plenty of small snacks to have in the day, things like apple slices, orange slices, maybe some granola bars. Also I know that most high schools give you a period to do your school work or homework.

About diet, one of the best brain foods out there are things like broccoli because they give you a good source of energy and foods like fish. If you have to then take a tuna fish sandwich with you to school to eat during mid morning. Also bran is very good as a brain food and good source of energy. Good luch and keep up the good work. I can only hope that my daughters have the same enthusiasm as you do when they get into highschool. Your parents are truly blessed.

I think there’s a lot of pressure in your junior year, its definatley the hardest. Your senior year will be much easier. Don’t pile on too much work because you won’t be able to keep up at your best. Why are you up so late? Once you learn how to organize your time and schedule, things will be much easier. Ask your classmates what they do. Always make sure you eat breakfast, its really the most important meal. Its important to have fun in high school though, so go easy on yourself. I took college prep classes in high school too and now that I’m in college, those classes didn’t help. College is much easier, but you have to organize your time, otherwise it’ll be harder b/c no one is pushing you. You’ll do good, I hope this helped! Good Luck!

The junior year was the hardest year for me in high school as well. Senior year gets better because you would have already been accepted to college and just finishing up the last of your requirements for graduation. The pressure would definitely be reduced. As far as tips goes: eat healthy “brain” food like fish, egg whites, and other lean proteins, yogurt, vegetables & fruits. It’ll keep you going physically and mentally. If organization is problem, you might want to create checklists or “to do” lists for yourself everyday. Accomplish each task and make sure it’s a reasonable amount of work to complete in one day. Lastly, DO NOT procrastinate! You’ll only create more unnessecary stress for yourself make yourself more organized.

depending on which classes you take, and if you have block(Monday one class for 2 hours and the next day another class for 1hour) or regular (period 123456)schedule softmore and junior year are the hardest at a high school. my advise is that you do not overload yourself with hard classes if you are going to a in-state public university as long as you have a 3.0+overall you are automatically accepted . private colleges depends on there guidelines .if you are going out of state then yes your grades and classes are really important. if you are only taking honors classes, colleges look at them as regular c.p. classes

one tip i can give you is to to not wait ’till the last minute to do the work. then you will be stressing also do not eat that much junk food before a class it does not help you concentrate also it only keeps you awake for 15 minutes(when i was in high school i ate too much junk food and feel asleep during a govt honors test ) also instead of going to sleep at 2 am go to sleep at least one hour early(the more you sleep you get the more alert you are at school. also pay attention to what the teacher is talking about(unless he is talking about himself then just study in class with your book) also if you do not know something, dont be afraid to ask your teacher or another teacher that knows the material.

The work gets progressively harder as you go along, so the most difficult work is in your final year – BUT – if you keep up your grades and stay on top of things in the years leading up to that final year, you won’t find it all that difficult.

You are absolutely correct about prioritizing and organization, including time management. It’s vital if you are going to have a successful life – or a successful career after you graduate.

You can help yourself by getting one of those little ‘daytimer’ notebooks and keeping track of what you have to do and what your deadlines are. I’ve always found it helps to ‘cheat’ on deadlines – give yourself an extra day to make sure you have a chance to review, or that you don’t get caught out if something unexpected happens, or you get sick or whatever. So if something is due on the 3rd, I mark it in my daytimer as due on the 2nd.

You’re on the right track already, by analyzing what is happening with your life and looking for ways to improve.

Good luck to you.

lol, yep, junior year was my hardest year. I had teachers who I didn’t understand, and they couldn’t teach. I usually make 1 B a semester, but in the first semester I made 4 B’s, which dropped my GPA. I also had a lot of homework in junior year, more than any other. I had Pre-AP and AP classes. I don’t know how I survived junior year, but iut was really hard for me. I’m glad now that I’m a senior! It’s so much better.

My toughest years were sophmore and junior

As a senior now, everything is going really great so far.

As for prioritize, always do your HW first on fridays so you ahve the weekend free. As for tests and quizzes, read your notes multiple times and read them the morning of the test/quiz. That way you can back up what you learned the night before. Junior year is VERY important, so try your best, but dont forget Senior year is JUST as important, colleges can deny you if your grades slip even after they have accepted you to their campus

For one, the freshmen year is the hardest.

Two, you’re in all honors classes.

Three, it gets easier as you progress throughout high school.

But honestly, high school is a breeze. And yeah… You are going to have to learn how to organize and prioritize. You are the only one who can manage your schedule. There is no trick to managing a schedule dude. Stop looking for some magical answer and just do what you have to do.

From my experience senior year was the hardest in high school. this was the year where the workload increased in preparation for CXC, GCE, ACT, SAT. Senior year is where you decide what career you will choose. For your grades to improve you need to be organized and know what your priorities are. You will have to dedicate a lot of time to school work. Don’t overdo it. Take time out at times to have a little fun. not too much. you need to make a schedule of your week. Carry a notebook to school and write down your assignments, tests, quizes etc. and the dates they will be due and given. this way you will not be doing last minute work and stressing out yourself. When studying find a place where you feel comfortable. try not to be too relaxed and distracted. make flash cards and after studying try to write down what you have remembered. don’t try to memorize for it will not work. learn the information. when in doubt ask. keep a school journal and every day write down what you think were your strenghts and your weaknesses. work on your weaknesses by using your strenghts. you know your disorganized. i have given few tips. you can also ask your parents for organizational advice. if you want to succeed never be afraid to ask parental advice. My mother is a teacher and she has helped me with organization. Always make sure you have a balanced meals. Don’t ever go to school without having breakfast for your day will be horrible. you’ll feel stressed and sick. Eat foods with a lot of proteins, fruits and make sure you consume enough fluid. this will make you ready for your class. never procrastinate. to prioritize, make a list of your goals and your priorities. every day read them and you will find out that they will stick with you. your priorities are very important and they determine the idividual you will become. ask your parents to vheck you priority list with you and ask their advice and opinions.Don’t be afraid for they will always be there for you. for you to manage your time make daily and monthly schedules and follow them. in your schedules put aside some free time. at leat 2-3hrs/day. Never fall under peer pressure.do’t be influenced by others. be yourself. individualism is good. Remember ask you teachers, parents or trusted adults for their help and their advice. As teenagers we don’t ask elders fr advice because we are afraid they might disagree with us or that they will not understand us. you will be surprised to know that they will give you the best advice for they were once in the situation you are in now
