I would look at what they are good at and encourage them to look in that direction.
For example, one of my daughters likes to take care of people, I will encourage her to enter the health field (to be a doctor or nurse, etc…). I have another daughter who loves animals. She would be a very good veterinarian. I am good at math subjects and am going to be an accountant.
I think it is very important to look at what you are interested in and good at before choosing a profession.

What are your high schooler’s aptitudes? Likes? Dislikes? Weak points? How much money will you have to invest in post-high-school schooling? (Or are you/the high schooler willing to take out loans for college?) How ambitious is this student? Does this student work hard, or take the path of least resistance? Not everyone is qualified, or would do well in, every profession.

Whatever he likes to do.I encouraged my son and now after a yr he doesn’t want to be it.So my advise to u is for him to look for something he loves to do.Then find out if he can get employed.If he enjoys computers then that is a job that is in demand. Good luck
