i dont get it?

in 8th grade i stopped going to public school to go to some private one called “options for youth” which is kind of like home studies…but then i got kicked out of there..and i just stayed home for like a month..and then my mom got mad so i had to sign up again and they gave another chance at options for youth, but i got kicked out again…and i stopped going…and i still havent finished half of 8th grade and i never even started 9th grade…i havent been to any school since i got kicked out of options until now…but im gonna start going to public school in about 2 weeks or something.but im kinda confused cause if i never finished 8th grade and never started 9th shouldnt the school tell me that i have to finish 8th grade first?? cause when i called they said im starting 10th and i never even went to 9th?!! should i just start 10th grade and not tell them anything about how i never finished 8th and 9th?

& if i never graduated from middle skool would i still be able to get a job?

Without at least a high school diploma you will be chronically under employed. You will spend many years of your life watching other people enjoy life, while you struggle. Education is about money, pure and simple.

Having struggled in life myself, I understand what you are going through. It doesn’t sound like you have much parental support and I know that you must have had some kind of emotional trauma in your life. I admire the fact that you are continuing to try to do school, without much support.

You may find that 10th grade work is too difficult for you, especially in math. The other subjects might be hard, but you can probably manage. I think you should take the shortest path to getting out of school because there are obviously some problems for you there. The other problems is figuring out if you will have enough credits to graduate. Make an appointment with a counselor and ask for advisement.

Another thing you might consider, is to look at what kind of vocational programs your high school has. That way you can eventually be off campus for part of the day, while learning something that will pay you big bucks. It seems as though almost all of the professions that you can learn in trade school pay very well.

I only emphasize the pay thing so much because I was unable to cope with high school and eventually graduated in spite of myself. It was when I ended up picking up dog poop for a living that I realized I had to get more education. I went to community college and then to university. Now I am doing well working with severely disturbed kids.

Remember, your life has a meaning and a purpose. Hang in there and good job for trying to make a comeback!

Due to the ‘wonderful’ No Child Left Behind Act…..you will be passed along no matter what grade you didn’t “fully” complete. As long as you are reading and doing math at the grade level comparable to your age–they dont really care where they stick you (in public school). I believe it would be beneficial for you to be truthful, and at least start to try in the 9th grade because there are concepts that they build on to when you enter high school. Even if you were to finish high school by just starting the 10th grade; you’d be lacking in some areas–so you really need to get all of the education you can. A diploma [or what you know] doesn’t guarantee you a job………however, who u know can be quite a different story!

You do not have a good school history, but it appears at this time you want to have another go at it. WE all wish you luck in staying in school at this time and completing your high school education.

At this point having not finished The 8th grade is not a major problem. From what you have said you seem to be well overdo for a high school education.

Make sure that any school that you do to is an accredited school with the legal right to issue a diploma.

Other than your ego in High School it is not too important which grade you are in. The important thing is the accumulation of credits in the groups that you need for graduation, passing whatever tests your sate requires and the total number of credits that you earn.

It does not matter what grade you are told you are in. It does mater that you take the correct classes and that you earn the credits needed for a diploma.

Good luck, go to school and do not get expelled this time.

You must live in The U.S., California perhaps? I know, because here they are moronic enough to put you in a grade based solely on your age. I have three kids in California public schools, so this doesn’t surprise me. However, there is hope for you! Public schools often have a lot of resources, you just have to take advantage of them. Speak to your school counselor immediately. I wont give you a lecture, but I will say that if you show you are serious they will work with and help you. You may be better off in a lower grade, based on your ability so that you do not get discouraged if you can’t keep up. However, legally there may be some issues because if you get past a certain age you can’t attend high school anymore–you may have to finish at a community college or at adult school. Talk to the counselors. Perhaps you can get additional help. Many schools have homework Clubs or Labs after school where you can go get extra help from other students for free. And it’s been my experience that if a student is motivated and interested in learning, most teachers will go out of their way to give them extra help and allow some flexibility with assignments. Just talk to them. And make it work this time. Hang out with the kids who are doing their homework and contributing to the class discussions not the ones ditching and getting high or drunk. Who you keep company with can have a big influence on your success. Good luck to you.

i am not 100% sure about american system, however our system means that if you complete a level at a higher grade then it basically replaces any existing previous level, so i was able to complete lvl 2 computing without ever doing lvl 1. I imagine it would be similar with grades. however you should still tell them, you may be able to go straiht to 10th grade if you work your *** of and learn some things from 9th grade aswell.

You need to buckle down and start taking school seriously…without an education you will never make it in life…..and you probably won’t even pass 10th grade since you didn’t finish 8th or 9th …you need to go and talk to a school counselor about this…..:)Good Luck:) and STAY IN SCHOOL!

Up tyo now you have behaved like a moron who is determined to leave school without an education.

When you go back to school meet the Principal and explain your situation. He will then put you in the appropriate grade.

Do NOT waste this chance – it’s time to grow up and take your education seriously, unless you are determined to be a loser all your life.

Forget about going back to school. Your obviously a very intelligent person. Go straight to college or your other option is to become a stripper in a few years.

Good Luck!!

If you’re still in middle school, then why on Earth aren’t your parents involved in this? Organising your own school year seems a bit much for someone your age.
